Who are The Medic Portal’s tutors?

Our tutors are either qualified doctors or high achieving Medical School students from leading universities. We have trained our tutors to deliver the highest quality tutoring, for all sections of the application process, and will always allocate the most suitable tutor to meet your individual requirements.

Is the tutoring customised for my requirements?

Once you have booked, we will put you in touch with your tutor by email – you can then specify what you would like to go over in the session, for example ‘Section 3 of the UCAT’.

Where does the tutoring take place?

In-person tutoring is conducted at our office in London, and online tutoring is done via Skype.

Do your tutors do home visits?

We can sometimes coordinate home visits, particularly in the London area, but you would need to contact us specifically to request this, and we cannot guarantee this service.

Is online tutoring as effective as tutoring in person?

Many students choose to be tutored online from the comfort of their own home, and our tutors are experienced at delivering both. If you are unable to come to London, online tutoring is a highly effective alternative.

Do you do tutoring at the weekend/in the evening?

Subject to tutor availability, we can usually provide tutoring in the evening and weekends.

How do I book and when will my session be confirmed?

You can book your session online via our General Advice, TMP BespokePersonal Statement TutoringDentistry Tutoring, UCAT Tutoring or Interview Tutoring pages and we will be in touch via email as soon as we have confirmed your session.

How many hours should I book for?

This is entirely up to you and your needs. We generally recommend booking your first session for two hours. You can then top this up with additional sessions as required.

How soon can you book in my session?

We aim to coordinate sessions at very short notice if necessary, however the more notice you give, the more chance there is that we can provide a session for your preferred date.

Can I request a particular tutor?

All our tutors meet an exceptionally high standard of tutoring, however if you want to request a particular tutor, we will do our best to accommodate.

How do I book repeat sessions with the same tutor?

You should contact us on [email protected] and we will co-ordinate your repeat session.

Can my friend/family member sit in on the session?

Yes, friends and family members can attend in-person sessions or sit in on online sessions.

What happens if I am unavoidably late to the session?

We cannot usually extend your pre-allocated time, so please ensure you arrive on time to get the full session that you have booked. Please email the tutor if you know you will be unavoidably late so that they are aware.
