Saba University School of Medicine

Aspiring MD? Achieve your ambitions at Saba University.

Since its establishment in 1992, Saba University has provided an education that mirrors the quality of US and Canadian medical schools but for a more affordable price. We consistently deliver a personalized education through small classes, employing faculty who hold extensive qualifications such as MDs, PhDs or the equivalent and a state-of-the-art campus with cadavers to ensure students gain a practical learning experience.

As a result of their hard work, and great performances on the USMLE Step 1 exam when our graduates pursue their residencies, they place into some of the most prestigious hospitals in all fields of medicine. Between 2015 and 2019, on average 99% of our students passed this USMLE Step One exam on their first attempt.

Additionally, Saba University is accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO) and also has key state approvals from New York, Florida and California, our graduates are eligible to work in any of the 50 US states, and for Canadians, all provinces. The NVAO uses similar standards to those bodies that accredit US and Canadian medical schools meaning our students receive the same high quality education as they would in North America.

More Student Feedback About Saba

“Saba is a great alternate pathway and really helped me focus on my academic goals. The school prepared me well for the boards, and for a great career in a new and exciting field. I met many motivated students at Saba, most of whom have gone on to be leaders in competitive disciplines in medicine.” David Petrov, MD, Fellowship in Interventional Radiology

“After doing exhaustive research and talking to Saba grads practicing in the US, I chose Saba for the small class sizes, cost effective tuition and small island which was perfect for focus and study.” Kevin Kunzer, MD, Psychiatrist Portage, Michigan

“The standards are pretty high at Saba, particularly in comparison to other Caribbean medical schools. That’s why Saba has such a high match and success rate.” Malika Hudani, MD Family Medicine

“Saba is a terrific island with a great atmosphere. It is a safe and peaceful place to study medicine. The coursework is challenging, but the professors were excellent and I felt prepared.” Tasjeel Ansari, MD

“I had an amazing time. The island is beautiful, and small, and perfect for studying. It gave me the ability to focus on medical school without any distractions. I also liked the fact that I could make appointments with my professors for that same day and oftentimes, I could just walk into their office and get the help I needed.” Erika Leung, MD, Fellowship at Harvard

“I knew that I would succeed if I put in the work, but Saba gave me the opportunity to excel. I think the competitive environment in combination with the supportive friendships I made was why I did well. I was really pushed to operate at a level that I hadn’t reached before.” Amanda Fazzalari MD
