GCSE help?

I’m currently taking my GCSEs which I’m going to sit this May. My subjects are Triple Science, English, Maths, Latin, Geography, Art and Textiles (which is a BTECH).

Art GCSE, however, is very stressful due to the sheer amount of coursework. I’m also very behind on this coursework, and so I find myself always trying to catch up on Art, meaning I limit my revision for the other subjects.

I’m thinking of dropping Art, so that I can really focus on my revision. However, is 8 GCSEs and a BTECH an okay number for medical school?

I worry that if I continue with my Art course that my other grades will be severely affected.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks 🙂

Hi there,

Thank you for your question!

This depends on the medical school – some specify the number of GCSEs you need, and others the grades.

We have a fully updated page on GCSE requirements for medicine here: https://www.themedicportal.com/application-guide/choosing-a-medical-school/gcse-requirements-for-medicine/ where you can see the requirements for each UK medical school.

Hope this helps! 🙂
