Maximilian Menaul

Maximilian is the Head of Client Management for The Medic Portal and The Lawyer Portal, overseeing private client operations across both platforms. With a background in medical anthropology, he advises prospective clients on the most suitable pathways into Medicine and Law—from initial consultations to ongoing support throughout your academic journey. Whether you’re exploring which service best fits your goals or already working through a private package with the team, Maximilian is likely to be part of your experience with us – and he is always happy to assist with any questions or queries!

Hayley Bendle

Hayley is Head of Schools and Senior University Advisor at The Medic Portal, following nearly eight years as Director of Careers & Higher Education at Cardiff Sixth Form College. During this time, she supported over 1,000 UK and international students into the world’s most selective universities, of which over 350 were successful Medicine and Dentistry placements in the UK and worldwide including Europe and Ireland, US, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, and more. Since joining The Medic Portal, Hayley provides personalised guidance to hundreds more applicants, and specialises in combining the notion of ‘best fit’ and strategic medical school selection.

Holding postgraduate qualifications in Educational Practice and Careers Leadership from Cardiff University and the University of Warwick, Hayley is also an internationally recognised advisor, currently serving a second elected term on the International ACAC Communications Committee.”

Korede Adedoyin

Korede Adedoyin is the Head of School and Course Operations at Dukes Plus, where she oversees the strategic delivery and partnership management of our consultancies – The Medic Portal, The Lawyer Portal, Oxbridge applications and A-List to our a network of over 200 schools annually. With over a decade of experience across the education sector, she brings a strong track record in operations, commercial strategy, and stakeholder engagement, with particular expertise in guiding schools and students through highly competitive university pathways, especially in medicine.

Alongside her professional work, she is the founder of The Vemoye Foundation, an initiative dedicated to expanding access to quality education for underserved communities in Nigeria. Her work reflects a commitment to improving educational systems and enabling all students to realise their full potential.

Eve Soloman

As Head of Private Client and Programmes Manager at The Medic Portal, Eve provides the oversight for our Premier Service students. She works closely with each student to build a truly tailored programme, connecting them with mentors and tutors who will be their strongest advocates, and managing every moving part of their application with expertise and care so that they can navigate this complex process with confidence.

Eve graduated with a first-class degree in Liberal Arts (Economics) from Royal Holloway, University of London, before building a career across the publishing and book retail industries. Her passion for education led her to transition into academic advising, where she has spent the past three years specialising in medical school applications. In that time, she has supported students from across the globe in securing offers from their top-choice universities.

Simon Pedley

Simon Pedley is the Head of Product at Dukes Plus and has over 15 years of educational experience. Holding degrees from Oxford University and UCL, Simon has held various positions in education and academia, including serving as the Head of Academia at The Medic Portal and Examfit, Post Sixteen Progression and Most Able Advisor at Ormiston Academies Trust, and Head of Sixth Form at Bethnal Green Academy.

Meet our tutors: current medical students and doctors who bring first-hand experience, offering practical guidance and insight into every stage of the journey.

Joely

Joely is an FY2 doctor working in North London, having completed her accelerated graduate medical degree at KCL in 2022. She’s worked for The Medic Portal for 5+ years, which has given her a wealth of tutoring experience covering all aspects of the medical school application process. Joely says: “I feel my strengths lie mainly in graduate entry medicine, application advice and interview tuition. My main focus when embarking on tutoring with new students is to provide a bespoke, tailored approach to allow them to excel in every aspect of their application.”

Panusha

Panusha is a final-year medical student at King’s College London, soon to begin her career as a junior doctor, with a strong commitment to teaching. Over the past four years, she’s supported hundreds of students as a UCAT and interview tutor with The Medic Portal, contributing to successful applications to leading medical schools, and was named Tutor of the Year 2025.

Alongside this, she mentors students through tailored one-to-one support, focusing on strategy, performance, and confidence. She’s an aspiring GP with a particular interest in medical education and widening access to medicine.

Our Founder

Meet the founder behind The Medic Portal, whose vision and commitment to widening access to medicine helped shape the platform into a trusted source of guidance for aspiring medics.

Dr Ricardo Tavares

Dr Ricardo Tavares attended Latymer Upper School before completing his prize-winning pre-clinical Medicine degree at Oxford University, followed by his clinical training at UCL. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education, with several publications across both the medical and education space.

Ricardo practised as a doctor for a decade and has vast medical teaching experience, including roles at Imperial College and The University of Buckingham, and is a regular speaker at national careers events. He co-founded The Medic Portal (in 2015) & The Lawyer Portal (in 2017). Combined, both organisations support over four million annual users and work with hundreds of schools across the world, on a clear mission to support aspiring medics and lawyers from all backgrounds.
