At Medical University of the Americas, our students come first. Through small classes, modern facilities and highly talented faculty, we provide a medical education that is accessible and provides students with the most relevant knowledge of the field. This learning model has enabled our students to achieve an average 95% USMLE Step One first time pass rate from 2015-2019.
MUA is located on Nevis, an island in the Caribbean. Nevis is a beautiful location where you’ll be able to snorkel, dive and explore Caribbean culture alongside your studies. From the moment you step onto the island, it’ll feel like a second home with its friendly and warm community. Our staff will also help you to integrate into the MUA setting and you’ll be provided with a student mentor.
MUA is accredited by Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM) which, along with key state approvals, allows our students to study in all US states and, for Canadians all provinces. This accrediting body also uses similar standards to bodies that accredit Canadian and US medical schools meaning our students receive the same quality education but at a more affordable price.
If you are ready to take the next step in your medical career, find out more from one of our advisors or sign up to our webinars.
Your first five semesters will be spent on Nevis island where you will learn about gross human anatomy and how diseases affect different parts of the body as well as how to conduct your own medical research. Using a range of lectures, tutorials and labs involving dissections of cadavers, you will hone the skills you need to be a successful doctor.
Once you have completed the Basic Sciences curriculum on Nevis, you’ll travel to North America to complete your clinical. During your clinicals, you will put into practice your new knowledge and skills. You will also get to experience different specialities which will shape the direction of your career.
From there, you will move on to a residency position in your area of interest. Your performance on your USMLE Step 1, Step 2/CK and Step 2/CS exam will have great influence on your medical career choices.
