Volunteering Journeys offer a range of exciting medical placements across India, Thailand and Sri Lanka

Volunteering Journeys offers some fantastic medical placements in local hospitals and clinics in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. You will be working in a rotation with local doctors to learn about preventative and curative medical care in developing countries. No previous experience is required and you will get you the exposure you need to develop a successful understand of your area of medicine and that can assist your future career.

Our programs are structured well and give you a chance to meet others, travel to amazing destinations and learn from experts in field. You could be taking notes on patients history, checking blood pressure, helping with outreach in rural areas or being part of a surgery!

Interested in international medical placements? Read on!

Our Medical placements are all inclusive and you can either choose your medical area or we would give you a general rotation. Most pre-med students prefer a general rotation in different areas.

We have placements for Nursing, Paediatrics, Pathology, Physical Therapy, Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Cardiology, Ultrasound, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Accident & Emergency, Anaesthetics, Biochemistry, Dentistry, ENT, General Surgery, Maternity & Midwifery, Yoga Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Naturopathy and alternative medicine such as Ayurveda.

A couple of times a year we will also arrange outreach and medical camps with local doctors in community schools and in local villages.

We have carefully selected countries that will offer you fantastic medical placements.

  1. Medical Work Experience in India – because India is known for its quality doctors from whom you can learn. 
  2. Medical Work Experience in Sri Lanka – because Sri Lanka is known for its amazing public preventative and curative care – the best in a developing country.
  3. Medical Work Experience in Nepal – because Nepal is known for having some great multi speciality hospitals.
  4. Medical Work Experience in Tanzania – because Africa is known for different diseases and patient care and volunteer doctors are needed desperately.
  5. Multi Country Combos – Combine locations and make the most of your international placement! 

How can you apply?

Our medical placements are affordable and we ensure that they are all inclusive. On all our programs our pricing cover airport transfers, food, shared accommodation, placement donation, transport to sites (usually public transport), staff support, area orientation and supervisor at the hospital sites.
